There’s a lot to like in the Gavin Hood directed sci-fi action movie Ender’s Game. Firstly everything looked stunning, the special FX and design throughout were excellent. We particularly loved the zero gravity war games and the epic virtual space battle sequences. Asa Butterfield (Ender) and Hailee Steinfeld (Petra) were both great as were all the young cast. The oldies Ben Kingsley and Harrison Ford were also on good form. We weren’t sure what to make of Ender’s Game from the trailer (kids sci-fi movie) but we knew we had to watch it because it looked amazing. Some of the big ideas it was trying to get across were perhaps lost under the weight of the visuals. The ending for us felt a little bolted on and rushed which was a shame because the build up to that point was very satisfying indeed. Our verdict – Definitely worth a watch.
