The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Review

We’ve finally caught up with the rest of the world and watched Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. As with the first Hobbit film (An Unexpected Journey) it did feel a bit stretched out and overlong in places. Though the pace and action have definitely been stepped up this time round with some incredible set pieces and sequences. The design, visuals and special effects as always from Peter Jackson are top notch, with every single frame looking amazing. The reveal of Smaug, the ‘snake like’ dragon (voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch) directed to absolute perfection. It all ends just a little too abruptly for our liking, but the scene is most definitely set for part 3 – roll on December 2014!
