Professional photographer Joseph Chi Lin has been published in the New York Times, Time Magazine and a whole bunch of world renowned publications. It was while he was working on a photo essay for Time.com titled the ‘Secret World of Cosplay‘ that he took his first cosplay photographs. That was 3 years ago, now Joseph Chi Lin is a name totally connected with cosplay and cosplay photography. We’ve been lucky enough to get a few moments with the photographer where we asked Joseph about his interest in cosplay photography and how he came to be involved in this line of work.
“This will be my third year photographing cosplay and it’s been nothing short of amazing.”
“I’m a huge geek, so seeing my favorite characters literally come to life has been a real treat. I’ve definitely been blessed to have had the opportunity to work with so many extremely talented cosplayers who create such amazing costumes.”
Joseph Chi Lin’s cosplay photographs are unfussy, honest, beautifully composed and totally natural looking. We asked Joseph about his cosplay photography
“Everything is composed in camera with little work in Photoshop. I try to keep everything minimal and let the cosplayers and their costumes tell the story since it’s not about me, it’s all about them.”
