It’s been described as Die Hard in Space and in many ways that’s a spot on description of Lockout. If you’re looking for a no nonsense popcorn Sci-Fi Actioner then this is it. Guy Pearce is excellent as the wise cracking Snow giving a convincing performance as the world weary falsely convicted ex-government agent. The film does almost everything right, with a simple story well executed, the film certainly doesn’t take itself too seriously and there’s plenty of excellent one liners from Pearce.
The downside of the film is it’s probably a little too short and there’s really not much else going on if you scratch beneath the surface, but Lockout does exactly what it sets out to do and that’s to deliver a good old fashioned Sci-Fi action movie.
