Argentinian director Andrés Muschietti extends his 3 minute spooky horror short Mama onto the big screen with a little help from executive producer Guillermo del Toro. This movie has its flaws and the story feels a bit padded out, but we loved Mama. It has spooky kids, a great central character played by the super cool Jessica Chastain and it’s chock full of genuine jumps and scares. The Mama creature in particular is beautifully designed and realised with some seriously creepy computer animation going on. Our rating – not quite perfect but really quite scarey!
