We’ve just watched the latest trailer for Brazilian director José Padilha’s upcoming remake of Robocop. On the surface it looks pretty cool, there seems to be some good design and FX, plenty of explosions, a good cast. The problem with all remakes is the comparison with the original. Unfortunately for Robocop (2014), Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 original was pretty amazing and considered a classic sci-fi movie. Do we really need a Robocop remake? Is this going to be any good? On the strength of this trailer we’re not sure. Will we watch it when it comes out? – of course! The last Paul Verhoeven movie to get the remake treatment was Total Recall and we enjoyed that – though I think we were in the minority on that one! We’ll have to wait till 2014 for the release of the Robocop remake – in the meantime check out the trailer below.
