Following on from the brilliant The Art of Horror Movies, Applause Books are back with The Art of Pulp Horror: An Illustrated History. This is a beautifully presented hard back artbook with 256 pages, packed full of beautifully reproduced horror artworks. The Art of Pulp Horror features over 800 rare and unique images from around the world, including magazine and book covers, illustrations, movie posters, comic books, and promotional items. It also includes some new horror artworks and images commissioned specially for this book. Starting in the 1920s and spanning over a 100 years, this book is a gratuitous, macarbe, and gory feast for the eyes! Alongside the glorious imagery on display, the book also features an insightful commentary from some of the genre’s most highly esteemed experts. The book was compiled by multiple award-winning writer and editor Stephen Jones, and it is truly a mammoth collection of works. The only downside of this book is some of the pictures are a little small, but we think this is an acceptable trade off for the sheer volume of content included. For fans of horror movies, horror art and pulp art, this is an absolute essential purchase and a ‘must have’ for your art book collection. We’ve put together a short preview video of ‘The Art of Pulp Horror’ to give you a taste of the horror delights waiting inside! You can view it here on our YouTube channel.
