The Hunger Games is the big screen adaptation of the first in a series of books by Suzanne Collins. For those that don’t know the plot (courtesy of the IMDB) Set in a future where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister’s place for the latest match. Jennifer Lawrence is fantastic as Katniss Everdeen giving the film a strong central female character. It’s Jennifer’s performance and the great story that really made it for us.
For a film clearly marketed towards teenagers (as with the books) the film works brilliantly with some really brutal scenes, intelligent dialogue and clever social satire. As you may have guessed we really liked The Hunger Games. Bring on the next part!
